Restoring the Heart is an online counseling service dedicated to healing emotional wounds.
On November 16, 2006, my wife and I experienced an unimaginable loss: the stillbirth of our first child, Joshua. The grief was profound. While statistics suggest that 80% of marriages end in divorce after the loss of a child, we were incredibly blessed to have both God and each other.
We each processed our grief differently, and I remember feeling utterly lost, as did my wife. I constantly questioned how such a tragedy could occur in modern times, with all the advancements in technology. Yet, through it all, we turned to God, and He guided us. We also committed to open communication, sharing our feelings with one another. This allowed us to comfort and guide each other through our painful journey.
Eventually, we felt called to transform our grief into a gift by helping others. This led us to establish Restoring the Heart. Our mission is to counsel individuals who feel lost, helping them find their way back to a path of healing and hope.

At Restoring the Heart, we are dedicated to listening to your story and guiding you on a journey toward hope and healing.
Out of countless places you could have turned to, you landed here, and for that, I'm deeply grateful.
I hold a bachelor's degree in Social Work, two master's degrees (one in Social Work and one in Human Services Counseling), and doctorate in Counseling & Psychological Studies with a concentration in Research. My professional experience includes working with federal, state, and local governments in areas such as social services, clinical trials, and mental health, addressing issues like grief, depression, geriatric concerns, and addiction. I serve adolescents, young adults, and senior citizens online and via phone.
After losing my son Joshua to stillbirth, I learned firsthand that healing is achievable. My husband and I want to remind you that resilience can grow even in the quietest, hardest times.
This counseling approach emphasizes that your past does not define you; what matters is your current resilience and the positive direction you're taking toward Restoring the Heart. Samuel and I want to meet you where you are and offer support, something many mothers and fathers who experienced loss understand deeply.
If you are facing challenges such as homelessness, unemployment, grief, betrayal, an empty nest, health issues, aging, or anxiety about starting college etc., contact us.
Remember: Iron sharpens Iron.
Sincerely,
Dr. DeWanda Harris Trimiar, CHW, RSW
